And he led the flock to the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. 3 Then Moses said, "I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn." 4 So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, "Moses!, Moses!" And he said "Here I am." 5 Then He said, "Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - |
| As the Lord spoke to
Moses in the past, so He is speaking to us today in spiritual language. The shoe of
righeousness could appropriately defined as the fruit of the Spirit as set out in
Galatians 5:22-23 ie 'love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control.' Before we go before our Creator, we have to take off, and abandon our shoe of unrighteousness. We cannot cross over the threshold of righteousness to communicate, and pray, or worship our Lord if we don't. We pray for the anointing from the 'top of the head to the soles of the feet' but sometimes the anointing cannot flow. Hence we get 'dried up', we cannot worship or pray as we ought to. It is at this time, that the evil one (satan) begins to plague us, and even defeat us if we are not strong in the Lord Jesus. Let us therefore live a Christ-like and a godly life, standing only on the word of God. Walk in His plans, that He has ordained for our lives, acknowledge Him in all our ways - bringing honour and glory to His holy name. When we wear our shoe of righteousness we can walk through the valley of the shadow of death and fear no evil because our Lord Jesus is our Shepherd, and the Blessed Holy Spirit our Comforter and Guide. |
