Romans 15:5-7.
5"Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, 6 that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God."
It has been said that most teaching on family life is simply and application of what it means to live as a Christian. These verses in Romans are directed to the Christian community at large, yet they are a frequently used wedding text, for they present a beautiful and fitting description of Christian marriage.
The key word is "receive" (Greek proslambano), which means "to take to oneself." Its root indicates strong action toward us - that in Christ, God literally came to us and took hold of us "while we were still sinners" (5:8). By that act of acceptance He released the grace of God and set in motion the powers of redemption.
When that power is allowed to work in a family, it will transform the lives of two imperfect people into one life, lived to the praise of God's glory. Therefore, the Lords sets this word like a banner over marriage from thefirst day until the last, "Receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God."
