The word adversity may be defined as a great crisis, a very difficult time or a rough situation. So just exactly do we do when adversity strikes? Do we run and hide? Do we simply walk away? Do we blame ourselves and cry? Or do we seek the face of God?
Adversity for many is a time of great suffering and pain. It may be dubbed as our desert period when everything seems to be going wrong. Sometimes it seems as if the world is crumbling around us and we simply just don't know what to do. The floods have overflowed us and there is nowhere to turn.
My friends, it is in moments like these that God steps in. He allows our adversities to occur in order to make us stronger. He lifts us out of our troubles only after we have endured the test. He is strong enough to feel our weakness and our pain. 'He is touched by the feeling of our infirmities (Hebrews 4:15).' Isaiah 54 verse 8 states that with a little wrath He hid His face from you for a moment.  But the same verse also promises that with everlasting kindness He will have mercy on you.
So you see, even when things get rough He is always there to bear us up. He will never leave us broken and destroyed. He is the chief potter and a good potter never throws away useful, precious clay.
